Le 13 mars, le n°2 du Government Accounting Office (GAO, ou Cour des Comptes US), Gene L. Dodaro, a été installé comme faisant fonction de Contrôleur Général des Etats-Unis, titre officiel du patron du GAO. En même temps était annoncée la démission du Contrôleur Général, David M. Walker. Selon le communiqué du GAO, de ce même jour (13 mars): «Gene L. Dodaro became Acting Comptroller General of the U.S. Government Accountability Office on March 13, 2008, succeeding David M. Walker, who appointed him upon resigning.
